ABC News Realtime Election Results in Times Square

Today, ABC News special “Your Voice, Your Vote 2012” election coverage originates live from election headquarters at the Crossroads of the World. The Pomegranate API, developed in partnership with the R/GA technology group, is being utilized to synchronize and coordinate the enormous digital facade of NASDAQ and the 23 story high Thomson-Reuters sign with live ABC News election coverage on TV.

Four years ago, R/GA’s technology team in partnership with ABC and Thomson Reuters, helped create a massive election event resulting in a gathering of more than four hundred thousand people with eyes glued to the live data streaming across the high resolution outdoor digital signs.  The high performance technical architecture is particularly noteworthy for the realtime election data that streams across Times Square signs even before more traditional live broadcasts. This makes the event a rare instance when digital signs serve as a primary mass news medium.
